Episode 1B: The Garden Pattern

This is part 2 of 3 of our quest to better understand Misunderstanding - or more specifically why we misunderstand each other so much on important things even when it seems like we pretty much do agree. Yet we still misunderstand each other to dire consequences so often. Well, if it's about understanding and misunderstanding, then you can bet your favorite puppy that it's about Meaning and how it works and why it so often fails to work the way we think it's going to.

In the first episode, Nat dissected language a bit to mine it for some of the different ways that meaning is made or moves or changes in Language, but ultimately with an eye beyond Language for an even larger and more foundational meaning structure: Worldviews, which are of course interwoven with different aspects of Language, but also a whole lot more.

In order to get as good of a grasp on Worldviews as we possibly can (in the next episode!), we need to go on a little side-quest to build a conceptual model that we can use to map Worldviews onto. Nat does just that in this episode with what he calls "The Garden Pattern", which he claims can be used for just about any Complex, Dynamic, Creative Systems, which Worldviews happen to be.
