So there’s a good chance that if you found your way here then you are both beautiful and doomed. In fact, I’m one hundred percent sure about one of them, and sorry honey but I’m only pretty sure that you’re beautiful. So, in the words of Bobby Dylan, “It’s doom alone that counts.” Ok, that might be a bit extreme, but it’s a good line and it fits the theme, so…
Ah, the theme – yes. The theme of this here column, yes, that is what I’m gonna briefly describe. My intentions anyway – who knows what a new seed will grow into until you nurture it and let it grow some? But we can still set out some reasonable expectations (and maybe even some unreasonable ones, can’t really see what’s possible without trying some unreasonable and seemingly impossible shit every now and then *shrug emoji*):
- The articles under this column will basically be my thoughts about stuff: social, political, aesthetic, cultural, etc, etc, et frickin cetera. I think that it all might fall under the category of “cultural critique” but honestly that sounds a bit too pretentious for what I want this to be, so I’ll just call it ramblings and laments. Don’t worry, there will be lots of both and maybe even some other stuff that some people out there might find some value in. lol maybe.
- I’m not really trying to convince anyone of anything here, I’m mostly just explaining how I see the world. If it jives with you then great! we can have lots of interesting conversations about those parts of our world, and if what I’m saying doesn’t jive with you? Idk, try my perspective on for a minute and see if the world looks better or worse to you, or don’t – we all only get one life, so use it the best way you see fit.

Anyway, I’m looking to publish two types of articles in this column: short explanations about specific aspects of my aforementioned worldview; and longer ramblings about different aspects of that world that I be viewin. That’s pretty much it.
As to frequency, there are two main factors: how often I got something to say (which can be too often or not enough depending on personal taste lol); and how much time I can devote to this site in general because to me this is just one part of that larger whole. The former I have a lot of stuff on deck due to years of thinking about this type of stuff coupled with a very pronounced procrastination streak that spanned pretty much all of those thinkin years *shrug emoji*. The latter will depend largely on whether or not I can make any type of living from this site, and as everyone these days knows – if you ain’t independently wealthy then you gotta make a livin somehow, and that means that’s where most of your time is being directed. So, if this is how I’m making my living then this is where I devote a large percentage of my time, if not then I’ll work on it as often as I can. Simple as.
Anyway, I hope that if you found your way here and at least care about the world and what happens to it as well as about the people in that world and what happens to them, then you can find some value in what I’m trying to do here. Even if it’s just something to disagree with – you might not know this, but the quickest and probably overall best way to find out exactly the shape of your own worldview is to figure out precisely why you don’t agree with something. Seriously, but it only works if you really try to figure out why – see if you can articulate which one of your principles it’s violating. Idk, try it if you enjoy that sort of thing. Honestly, I’m really kinda hoping that some of the folks who happen to share my worldview will find this column and maybe have their own thoughts or works of art or projects that they would like to share on this website in turn. That’s the dream anyway, the unreasonable expectation that drives all the reasonable ones. And honestly, what’s the point of any of the rest of it if we can’t dream together a bit, too, from time to time?
About Me
Has a PhD in Comparative Literature and is trying to see if there’s anything he can do with it in a world that is wobbling on way too many axes at once. Has some opinions about stuff but despite all that he’s really just a big sweetie.
