Keywords For The Apocalypse Table Of Contents
This is where you can find links to all of the articles in my Keywords For The Apocalypse Project – for this Project I am taking inspiration from 20th Century Rhetorician Raymond Williams as I analyze some popular words and phrases that bring more confusion to a conversation than clarity, these days.
Keywords For The Apocalypse
I go into a good amount of depth about the purpose behind this Project and why I think it is worthwhile.
Just for an extra bit of fun there’s also quite a few more of my thoughts on Language and how it relates to the rest of Society. Bitchin!
Some (Hopefully Coherent) Thoughts On Integrity & Authenticity
Okay, so these are two terms that I see thrown around a lot, and honestly the way they are usually used (and even a lot of their uncommon usages tbh) kinda suck donkey butt. And the reason why I’m putting them together here is that the way that I think about these two terms they are very related.
Poco a Poco
(Little By Little)
Literally “little by little” – a simple enough saying, but like everything else…context, context, context.
In my experience, this is one of the most Mexican sayings there is. And again, it’s a simple saying, I’m sure you’ve heard the english version enough times to attest. But it is also a saying that perfectly sums up a World View – one that is completely opposed to the *Everything Now* mentality associated with Capitalist Societies.
Speaking Truth To Power:
Where Justice Goes To Die
This article also appears in A Doomer’s Guide To Getting Right With The Apocalypse, but it began as a Keywords entry concerning the phrase “Speak Truth To Power” – which has become very popular over the past quarter of a century and it chafes me to no end.
Basically, what it boils down to is that Power only cares about Power, so Truth can go fuck itself in the most objectionable manner that you could imagine.
Anyway, this article analyzes Language and Power and how as a result of the way that The Society That Broke The World has talked about Power for at least the past forty something years (ie The Neoliberal Period) inevitably led to the rise in Fascism.
But I also analyze sources of resistance to the Fascist creep that do exist in the cracks and margins of The Society That Broke The World, so it’s not all a downer.
